The dataset serves as a key component in a StoryMap highlighting community partnerships, prevention strategies, and resource accessibility aimed at decreasing overdose-related deaths. This dataset was developed to advance public health research, spatial analysis, and community awareness concerning substance use prevention, intervention, and harm reduction efforts within Austin–Travis County, Texas. It serves as a foundational geospatial resource for understanding how demographic, environmental, and social factors influence patterns of substance use–related fatalities and access to critical recovery services.The dataset includes aggregated and anonymized spatial representations of overdose fatalities, derived from verified public health records, to preserve confidentiality while enabling pattern analysis across the county. These spatial data are combined with locations of harm reduction programs, treatment and recovery centers, emergency response assets, and community-based outreach organizations that collectively form the regional network of prevention and recovery resources.By integrating these diverse information sources, the dataset allows for comprehensive mapping and evaluation of community interventions designed to reduce substance use–related harm. GIS-based visualization supports the identification of geographic disparities in access to care, the proximity of high-need areas to prevention resources, and the spatial relationships between overdose incidents and service availability.
