This is the authoritative feature layer for urban forest projects funded by the City of Austin's Community Tree Preservation Division, Development Services Department. The layer is intended for use in the Community Tree Preservation Division's Community Tree Report hosted through Socrata. The report outlines funding initiatives and tree distribution contracts managed by the division. The layer is intended to demonstrate funding reach and equity across Austin.

The Urban Forest Funding layer shows urban forestry projects where funding was granted. Project locations are mapped based on the best location defined by City of Austin staff. Some projects may have multiple site locations while others don't lend themselves to an exact location (internships, tree inventories, tree distribution). Where projects aren't map-able, data are available in the layer's attribute table and a map point is located off to the right side in a line. The layer is symbolized by project category: caring, growing, informing, or inspiring. Clicking a map icon will open a pop-up window displaying the following project data:
  1. Project name
  2. Project overview
  3. Amount spent
  4. Applicant name
  5. Applicant type (government, non-profit, school, business, community group)
  6. Project hyperlink (if available)
  7. Project image (if available)
  8. Council district
  9. Fiscal year
Fiscal years represented in the data include 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021.
