        <idAbs>&lt;p&gt;This map shows the habitat, both current and historic, that blueback herring may access in the Connecticut River and its primary tributaries, in direct relation to obstacles such as, primarily, hydropower dams or, to a lesser degree, drainage culverts. Our intention is to provide an opportunity for interested stakeholders to recognize what the USFWS, with input from state government and academic partners, recognize as immediate top priorities for the mitigation of obstacles that inhibit fish migration. With that information, they can direct their energy and financial resources toward that mitigation.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Rivers herein are visualized in terms of the portion of historic habitat that is available to fish: unobstructed (no dams or other obstacles inhibit movement), partially obstructed (dams or obstacles with some mechanism of fish passage where movement is limited), or fully obstructed (dams or obstacles without fish passage, such that fish are prohibited from utilizing their full historic range). Further, obstacles are visualized in terms of what mitigation action is recommended by state government partners: removal of the obstacle, improvement or installation of fish passage, removal or improval/installation, low priority (no action is expected in the near term, i.e. status quo), or end of the road (no action is expected in the long term, e.g. Army Corp of Engineer flood prevention dams).&lt;/p&gt;</idAbs>
