The EPA Region 2 Long Island Sound Office (LISO) hosts the National Estuary Program and Geographic Program, the Long Island Sound Study (LISS). The LISS is bi-state partnership consisting of federal and state agencies, user groups, concerned organizations, and individuals dedicated to restoring and protecting the Sound. The points indicate the eelgrass and water quality monitoring sites of the Millstone Environmental Lab at Dominion Energy within the coastal boundary of Long Island Sound. These sites are located in the Niantic River Estuary, CT. The lab has been monitoring the eelgrass in this estuary since 1985.
