In 2018, the Proctor Creek Urban Waters Federal Partnership hosted meetings with state and local government agencies, corporations, small businesses, foundations, and educational institutions to introduce proposals to reduce the litter in Proctor Creek and its communities. In 2019, the Coca-Cola Company, in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association, the City of Atlanta, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, West Atlanta Watershed Alliance, EPA, and others, installed six trash-trap systems along Proctor Creek. Five smaller, portable trash trap devices, called Litter Gitters, were installed in several tributaries of Proctor Creek and a larger, industrial strength trash trap, called a Bandalong, was installed in the main stem of the Creek. Local residents and community organizations are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the trash traps, removal of the collected trash, and outreach and education on how to reduce trash entering the creek. </p>
