OSMP Funded Research Program
<p style='box-sizing: border-box; margin-top: 0px; color: rgb(41, 36, 29); font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;'>The City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department funds scientific inquiry on OSMP lands on an annual cycle as part of its "Funded Research Program." This program started in 1995. The data file on the open data catalog has grant history going back to 2016. Earlier records are available, but are not collated and ready for release at this time; these records are, however, available upon request.</p><p style='box-sizing: border-box; margin-top: 0px; color: rgb(41, 36, 29); font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;'>The Funded Research Program has four goals:</p><ol><li>Provide a mechanism for training scientists and land managers.</li><li>Address short-term and long-term management needs.</li><li>Solidify relationships with the research community.</li><li>View Open Space as an integral part of the Front Range.</li></ol><p style='box-sizing: border-box; margin-top: 0px; color: rgb(41, 36, 29); font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;'>Each year, staff reviews incoming proposals for merit (proposal organization, management merit, intellectual merit, methods, personnel qualifications, schedule and resources) and decides which to fund. Dollar amount of the grant given from OSMP. The maximum allowable award varied by year. In 2016, the award limit set by OSMP was $15,000, with rare exceptions. In 2017, the was no maximum. In 2018, the award limit set by OSMP was $15,000 with no exceptions. In 2019, the award limit set by OSMP was $10,000 with no exceptions.

Interagency
Starting in 2017, OSMP began jointly funding grants with their agency partners, Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) and Jefferson County Open Space (JCOS), for research that crosses their land boundaries. The award recipients would receive an additional dollar amount, beyond the value list in the Amount field in this data set.
