This is a geographic database of Electricity Generation/Distribution facilities in the Alamo Area Council of Governments Region (Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina, and Wilson Counties, TX, US).Electricity facilities - facilities involved in the generation, transmission, distribution, marketing, and regulation of electricity. Electricity Generation - facilities converting other forms of energy, such as water power (i.e., hydroelectric), fossil fuels, nuclear power, and solar power, into electrical energy. Fossil Fuel Electric Power Generation - these facilities use fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, or natural gas, in steam turbine, internal combustion, or combination turbine processes to produce electric energy. Coal-Fired Generators - these facilities use natural gas as the fuel source. Electricity Distribution - facilities used to transmit electricity to final consumers at lower voltages (usually less than 69 kV).Distribution Substations - these are connection points in the distribution system and from the distribution system to the transmission system may include transformers, capacitors, switchgear.
