Types of property in this data layer include parcels such as parks, forests, trails, natural areas and wildlife management areas. The data was derived from tax information by parcel with property classes of 15A (Public School Property), 15B Other School Property, 15C (Public Property), 15D (Church &amp; Charitable Property), 15E (Cemeteries &amp; Graveyards) and 15F (Other Exempt). Parcels were linked with MOD4 records using a Unique ID. Queries were created based on the property classes listed above, which resulted in the base open space layer. For QA purposes, the Open Space .shp file was cross-referenced and verified using the online NJACTB tax database (https://www.njactb.org/) as well as park, wildlife management area, natural lands trust and wildlife refuge maps. Using the same process, facility names were also identified and added to the open space .shp file. Initial data was derived by linking Sussex County parcels with MOD 4 records and querying out all parcels with property classes beginning with '15'. For QA purposes, the Open Space .shp file was cross-referenced and verified using the online NJACTB tax database and the Sussex County Open Space Inventory. Other sources used included the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection park, wildlife management area, natural lands trust and wildlife refuge maps. In cases where the source was a non-profit group or not part of the DEP inventory, their websites were used for cross verification of the open space layer. The data is complete at the time of publication. The following are the QA procedures applied or methods taken to insure the accuracy of the attribute data for the Open Space shape file. There was a visual inspection of the database to check for invalid attribute codes and, where found, code errors were corrected. Where the EPL_FACILI field states "vacant land", parcels have not been named as a specific park, forest or other management entity. The REF_SOURCE field contains notes and the sources for the open space parcel information. There was also a visual inspection of the linework and open space parcels for correctness and acuracy. Open Space data was gathered from reliable sources and cross checked against the corresponding parcel layer as well as the on-line New Jersey Association of County Tax Boards (NJACTB) parcel service. Likewise, the Open Space .shp file was cross-referenced and verified using the Sussex County Open Space Inventory and the Morris Land Conservancy Open Space layer as well as NJDEP park, wildlife management areas, natural lands trust and wildlife refuge maps. Anomalies were addressed and notated within the REF_SOURCE field of the Open Space .shp file. The MOD4 tables and the Open Space parcel layer were joined using 'Unique_ID'' to verify an accurate match. Visual inspection / cross-referencing National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS) - Data mapped to basemaps which met NMAS at the mapping scales. Parcel errors & table errors were resolved. Horizontal positional accuracy for the digital data is tested by visual comparison of the source with hard copy tax maps. No overall positional accuracy level can be established since a variety of methods were used to map and compile the parcel boundaries.
