These data were created through a process where 1:100,000 scale fish habitat distribution data (current as of 2001) were plotted on 1:24,000 scale USGS quadrangle maps and then provided to ODFW and other natural resources agency field staff.  Based on survey data, supporting documentation, and the best professional judgment of the field biologists, the distribution of usetypes (see the USETYPE field) were marked on the maps with colored pens. Additional attribues such as source contributors, agencies and confidence in the data were also collected.   These hardcopy data were then digitized by ODFW GIS staff and stored as event tables in Microsoft Access.


For the purpose of distributing these data, the event tables have been converted into coverage format with the EVENTARC command.  Stream route data are based on the PNW River Reach files at 1:100,000 scale.  While this results in a static version of the dataset, it allows the information to be made available in a more common and accessible format.  Event tables are available, however, on the NRIMP Fish Distribution data web page.

Revisions:
The first iteration of this data was completed in 1996. Since then, updates have been made to all anadromous zones in Oregon.  The data will be updated approximately every two years as funding allows.
Version 05 was created on Feb. 6, 2001.
Version 06 was created on Jan. 18, 2002 (Hood and Clackamas areas updated)
Version 07 was created on March 31, 2002 (North Coast, John Day, Umatilla,
Upper Grande Ronde, and Enterprise areas updated)
Version 08 was created on June 3, 2002 (Upper and Mid Willamette, Santiam, and
Mid-coast areas update, not including the McKenzie, Middle or Coast Forks of
the Willamette.)
Version 09 was created on September 27, 2002 and includes all remaining
anadromous zones in Oregon (coastal and inter-Columbia regions)
Version 10 was created on February 11, 2003 and includes origin and production
coding.
Version 11 was created on June 17th and includes updated Quality Criteria, Status, Origin and Present Production coding.
Version 12 was created on January 13th.  All disputed distribution records have been resolved.

Reviews_Applied_to_Data:

All distribution data have been reviewed at least twice by ODFW field staff (typically district biologists).  The date of review exists in the attribute table for each distribution record.
