Service Description: These data represent the best available information provided by Tennessee Community Water Systems (CWSs) and in consultation with the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD). The Vanderbilt University Drinking Water Justice Lab (DWJL) obtained original data from the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), TAUD, or TN CWSs. Original data consisted of maps in paper, electronic, or geospatial format. The DWJL made every effort to ensure the accuracy of data, including, when applicable, verifying boundaries with CWS, TAUD, and TDEC personnel. While the CWS information and base data on this map are considered dependable, neither TDEC nor the DWJL assume any legal liability or responsibility or make any guarantees or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of the information or boundaries for any particular purpose. Nineteen (4%) of CWSs have an overlap of their estimated service area boundary pending verification (see Appendix A). An overlap is defined by more than one CWS covering an area. CWS, TAUD, or TDEC personnel verified existing overlaps contained in the geodatabase. Five (1%) of CWSs (TN0000138, TN0000183, TN0000245, TN0000693, TN0000826) are not represented in this dataset due to lack of availability of a system map that could be digitized.
