Description: The City of Austin Planning and Development Review Comprehensive Plan Division created the 2010 Land Use Study for the purposes of facilitating regional planning. A Land Use Study classifies land according to a coding system that reflects the primary modifications or improvements made to that land in order to accommodate housing, commerce, transportation, recreation, and other human activities. This GIS file stores the classifications for each land parcel, along with other GIS information regarding parcel size and location. The study is generally current to the main source for land use information - September 2010 appraisal data. However, in many cases the previous land uses remained unchanged from the last study, so the sources used for them remained the same. The study area encompasses the City of Austin’s Full, Limited Purpose, and Extra-territorial jurisdictions, which include much of Travis County, and portions of Blanco, Hays and Williamson Counties.
