This data is used to serve city departments and public entities for general references in map production, planning, and analysis. Parkland Dedication is a local government requirement imposed on subdivision developers or builders, mandating that they dedicate land for a park and/or pay a fee to be used by the government entity to acquire and develop park facilities. The city of Austin adopted its parkland dedication ordinance in 1985 and was updated in 2007.
