This is based on the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) GIS Data Model, which was developed  for jurisdictions to be able to inventory assets they own, plan, manage, operate, and maintain.  By providing standard attributes and values, this GIS Model makes it possible for better local and regional management and planning of resources .  This data is used to serve other city departments and public entities for general reference in map production, planning, and analysis.
