This feature layer shows LiDAR data capture as it is flown up to the 22 February 2021. This data will likely to be changed and updated as new LiDAR data is captured. Currently the LiDAR capture data is supplied to Waikato Regional Council as a kml file from iXblue, and stored in a geodatabase at Waikato Regional Council.
Background information.
The Waikato Region is one of ten regions taking part to capture consistent LiDAR data across NZ. Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) secured $19M of Provincial Growth Fund (PGF) funding committed to this initiative.
This is a Waikato Local Authority Shared Services (WLASS) project, with significant technical support from WRC. iXblue (who won the contract for the provision of the Waikato LiDAR data set) are an Australian company although they do have a NZ presence. As well as being awarded the Waikato contract, iXblue will also be providing LiDAR data for the Hawkes Bay region.
It is anticipated that capture will be completed this flying season by
the end of March 2021. The minimum accuracy and pulse density for the
LiDAR capture will be vertical accuracy (95%) <20cm, horizontal accuracy
(95%) <100cm, and pulse density >4 pls/m2.
