Description:

This Feature Layer provides examples of beach projects on Puget Sound where alternatives to hard shoreline armoring (e.g., bulkheads) were used.

Project attributes include information on
specific management actions
taken at the site (armor removed, beach nourishment, anchored wood, and structure relocation).

Information about a project site's
geomorphic setting
is also included (barrier, bluff, stream mouth, pocket beach, or artificial fill).

Links to before and after photos on Flickr are available for each site.

Visit Ecology's website for more information on shoreline erosion, shoreline stabilization, and soft shore alternatives.

Note that this feature class will be periodically updated as new sites are added. This is not a comprehensive or complete set of soft shore/armor alternative projects, but a set of illustrative examples.
