Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: The Mass Planting polygon feature class is used to delineate the boundaries of groups of plants that are too complex or dynamic to map as individuals, and is commonly used for meadows, wildflower gardens, large plantings of the same species, and groups of plants that have grown together. It contains feilds for specifying the number of different speices and the estimated number of individuals it contains. It is closely related to the Plant Center point feature class, and a point should be arbitrarily located inside of each polygon for every different species the polygon contains. For example, a polygon drawn around a mixed planting of California poppy and Purple needle grass would contain two points from the Plant Center feature class. One for the poppies and another for the grasses.
