Objective: This shapefile is intended to provide location data on the camp sites throughout the Eastern side of the Revenue Flats area.
Equipment: Emlid RS2 Multi GNSS Receiver
Mapping Techniques: Points were collected directly in the field in the center of the fire ring at each site using a single connection type at a 5 Hz update rate.
Base Station: No base station was used.
Editing: This layer was not edited.
Estimated Accuracy: Estimated Accuracy is sub 0.5m for most points, with a few outliers.
Spatial Reference Information: NAD 1983 (2011) StatePlane Montana FIPS 2500 (Intl Feet)
Fields: Three additional fields were utilized with the GNSS data: FireRing, VehicleAccess, and Exposure. For ease in mapping, the domains for these fields consist of numbers that represent attributes. The domain for FireRing is 0-1, where 0 represents the absence of a fire ring and 1 represents the presence. This is the same for VehicleAccess. where 0 represents no vehicle accessibility and 1 represents vehicle accessibility. Exposure represents how exposed a site is to wind based on surrounding features, measured on a scale of 1-4, with 4 being the most exposed.
Objective: This shapefile is intended to provide location data on the climbing locations throughout the Eastern side of the Revenue Flats area.
Equipment: Emlid RS2 Multi GNSS Receiver
Mapping Techniques: Points were collected directly in the field at the base of each climbing location using a single connection type at a 5 Hz update rate.
Fields: One additional field was incorporated with the GPS default data fields, being RouteType. The route type field was made to specify the type of climbing to be done at each location. A RouteType value of 1 indicates the location had a dedicated climbing route, with hookups for gear. A value of 2 indicates the location was just a good place to climb, without dedicated hookups.
Objective: This shapefile is intended to provide relative location data on the roads in the Norris Flats area, as well as their information about condition. Many roads in this area are in poor condition, or have completely disappeared, contradictory to satellite imagery.
Equipment: Emlid RS2 Multi GNSS Receiver
Mapping Techniques: Line polygons were collected from a slow moving four-wheel vehicle, with the rover receiver secured out the rear passenger window, and the passenger collecting points at important feature vertices using a single connection type at a 5 Hz update rate. Road beginnings and ends were based on observable natural intersections throughout the area.
Base Station: No base station was used.
Editing: Topological rules were added to this data to produce a more cohesive depiction of roads. Dangles resulting from inaccuracies where road lines should connect were identified and repaired.
Estimated Accuracy: Estimated Accuracy is sub 0.5m for most points, with a few outliers.
Spatial Reference Information: NAD 1983 (2011) StatePlane Montana FIPS 2500 (Intl Feet)
Fields: One field was added to the gps data of this feature, being condition. Condition was judged on a numeric scale for ease, with 1 being the best condition and 4 being the worst. Placement was based on factors such as road bumpiness and the presence of holes.
Objective: This shapefile is intended to provide location data on the major abandoned mining sites throughout the Eastern side of the Revenue Flats area. Sites range from piles of old debris to massive holes in the ground. The true extent of old sift piles and mining pits extends past the length of this project, though the land is covered with them. Only major areas were mapped for the purpose of this project.
Equipment: Emlid RS2 Multi GNSS Receiver
Mapping Techniques: This polygon feature was mapped by walking the outline of each area and collecting important vertices as points using a single connection type at a 5 Hz update rate.
Fields: A single "equipment" text field was added to the GPS data fields to describe the contents of each site. A drainage ditch was identified, as well as two areas with abandoned and rusty old equipment, and one massive location with newer equipment in better shape.
