Name: GISADMIN.TrashGeneration

Display Field: BID_NAME

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: In this datalayer, trash generation refers to the amount of trash that is littered in an area. The attributes in this layer are further defined here. Initial estimates of trash generation are based on results from a study in which land use and average income were found to best correlate with trash generation. Initial estimates were revised in some areas based on Permittee assessments of actual conditions. Med_HH_Inc: The median household income of a Census Block Group, 2010 data.  Used to initially calculate residential rates. This data can be visualized on http://www.city-data.comOneMileInc: The average median household income within one mile of a Census Block Group, 2010 data.  Used to initially calculate retail rates.Landuse: The land uses used to calculate initial trash rates. This data originated with a combination of ABAG land use data and each county’s assessors land use data. It was further edited by EOA and with feedback from cities. Acres: Area in acres.TRASH_R8: The estimated trash generation rate in gallons/acre/year. This is the amount of trash that is littered and not the amount that ends up in a storm drainage system. These rates have been changed based on requested edits to the Final Generation Category. These rates should be used only in very rough calculations of litter generation. Trash_Load: The estimated trash generation load in gallons/year. This is a very rough estimate. City: The city or county that the polygon is in.Jurisdiction: The private company, city, county, or agency that has jurisdiction from a trash perspective over the polygon.Juris_City: “yes” if the agency in the City attribute has jurisdiction over the trash originating from this polygon. This attribute is used for mapping Non-Jurisdictional areas. In order to map the appropriate generation color for Non-Jurisdictional land uses, the Final Gen Category was appended to “no, ”. It should be noted that non-jurisdictional polygons often include portions of adjacent streets that are jurisdictional. This is an error in the way this datalayer was developed because all parcels extend to roughly the centerline of the adjacent street, when in fact the street should be entirely jurisdictional. Modelled Generation Category: Level of trash predicted from land use/ income model. The scale ranges from “A” to “D”, where A represents the least trash and D represents the most trash.Assessed Generation Category: Changes in generation category based on assessments by Permittees. (In some cases, final gen. category is also edited by EOA for small parcel slivers to improve display clarity.) Final Generation Category: The most up-to-date estimate of trash generation category based on revisions from Permittee assessments. TMA Primary (or TMA_Prime): The ID of the Primary Trash Management Area that this polygon is in. This may be blank if this polygon is non-jurisdictional or is entirely a non-urban land use. The ID corresponds to differing action plans and priorities for different Permittees. TMA Secondary (or TMA_Second): The ID of the Secondary Trash Management Area that this polygon is in. This may be blank if the permittee chose to designate primary management areas only.
