Description: This map shows the dominant lifestyle segment in an area in 2012, based on Esri's Tapestry Segmentation system. The map displays the dominant segment's LifeMode summary group color. The &"dominant&" segment is most useful at at tract and block group levels.
Tapestry Segmentation, Esri's geodemographic market segmentation system, classifies U.S. neighborhoods into 65 segments based on their socioeconomic and demographic composition. For a broader view of markets, segments are grouped into 12 LifeMode Summary Groups that reflect lifestyles/life stages and 11 Urbanization Summary Groups that show levels of affluence and population density.
The map is designed to be displayed in conjunction with the Canvas basemap with a transparency of 25%. To use it on other basemaps, try a transparency of 25-50%.
Esri's U.S. Updated Demographic (2012/2017) Data – Population, age, income, sex, race, and home value marital status are among the variables included in the database. Each year, Esri's Data Development team employs its proven methodologies to update more than 2,000 demographic variables for a variety of U.S. geographies. See Esri Updated Demographics for more information. Information about the USA Tapesty Segmentation map service used in this map is here.
