50MAX is a new generation of truck that allows for safe and more efficient transport of freight goods. This layer represents local road road restrictions where 50MAX trucks are not permitted to travel on. Please note that if an RCA is not part of the 50MAX, truck operators must obtain permit from the RCA to travel in local roads. The local road road restrictions are part of the 50MAX permitting programme from NZTA, implemented in 2013 in order to replace a laborious and time consuming permitting process. As part of the 50MAX permitting programme truck operators requested to inform themselves of where they can and cannot drive. Data was collected by NZTA regional champions through a co-operation with the Road Controlling Authorities. The participation is voluntary. The data for local road road restrictions was provided by the RCAs. 50MAX is a new generation of truck that allows for safe and more efficient transport of freight goods. This maps shows which RCA are part of the progamme. 50MAX operators need to consult the 50MAX restriction maps and should obtain permit for the remaining areas for areaswhich are not part of 50MAX. Areas could be not delegating to the New Zealand Transport Agencyat this stage or still verifying their data or in the process of signing MOU (but still haven’t signed it yet). As part of the 50MAX permitting programme truck operators requested to inform themselves of where they can and cannot drive. This map aims to help operators find out if certain areas are will not be part of the 50MAX programme, meaning that in order to travel in local roads operators should contact the RCAs. Data was collected by Transport Agency regional champions through a co-operation with the Road Controlling Authorities. The participation is volunteer. When RCAs signa Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) the region gain status as “open” and trucks permitted with 50MAX can travel in local roads (except where there are bridge restrictions) You can find more information here: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicle/your/50max/index.html?r=1 Data is updated every calendar month.
