5.1.2 Travel time reliability – motor vehicles

Unit

Percentage of network within each variability rating band (related to coefficient of variability (CoV) applied to road segments).

Rate: Low (CoV<0.3), Medium (CoV 0.3–0.6), High (CoV >0.6).

A lower CoV indicates a higher reliability of travel time.

Map

The map shows percentage of the network that had high variability (CoV) of travel time for a representative day, averaged over a mid-week 3-day period, indicating low travel time reliability.

Data

Data for travel time reliability is sourced from TomTom travel time data and traffic count information for state highways and local roads.

The full data is available for download, showing data for each territorial authority (with regional and national totals).
