Description: Brevard Board of County Commissioners created the Merritt Island Redevelopment Area (MIRA) in 1989. Four areas have been added since the original SR 520 commercial core. East Merritt Island adjacent to the SR 520 corridor was added in 1991 followed by a portion of North Courtenay Parkway in 2006. Two new areas were included in 2015, the Barge Canal with the portion of North Courtenay Parkway not included in 2006 and an area near Cone Road. This shapefile unifies all of the areas into one polygon.
