Description (type: esriFieldTypeString, alias: The purpose of this survey from NatureServe is to prioritize datasets for initial inclusion in the Spatial Biodiversity Information System (SBIS) based on the prioritized data themes and within the context of improved Marine Protected Area management, planning and enforcement. NatureServe performed a similar task during the NatureServe-led May 6th workshop, but realized that others who were unable to attend should contribute to the prioritization. Hence, we encourage you to meet with others within your department/agency/organization to discuss dataset priorities and submit a single survey response per department/agency/organization.When selecting the priority datasets, we recommend considering the following:What are the Goals of your department/agency/organization as they relate to Marine Protected Area management, planning and/or enforcement? How will you measure the success of or progress towards achieving the Goals? What datasets will enable that? For example, if the goal is to ensure healthy, functional and natural habitats and one of the ways to do so is via invasive species removal and pollution control, which dataset would best be able to allow you to measure progress against that Goal? Does a habitat dataset exist which reflects areas populated with Casuarina Trees which could be used to calculate acreage?Use of datasets to generate such metrics, via graphs, charts, etc., within the SBIS will ensure that the metrics are automatically updated as is the data within the datasets., SQL Type: sqlTypeOther, length: 255, nullable: true, editable: true)
