Description: Site selection for the debris management sites is informed
by criteria defined in the King County Debris Management Plan in section 4.1.
Site analysis was done with available GIS data, but local knowledge will be
needed to finalize these sites. Subjective criteria labeled below will need to
be addressed by individual municipalities/jurisdictions.
If a site meets all criteria below, it is labeled as a
“Potential Debris Management Site”
- Within
an identifiable or known floodplain and flood-prone areas<o:p></o:p>
- Within
250 feet of a private drinking water supply
- Within
500 feet of a public drinking water supply
- Within
100 feet of a surface water body
- Within
250 feet of a residential dwelling
- Within
an Interim Wellhead Protection Area or Zone II
- Within
an ACEC, endangered species habitat or historic site (King County Critical
Areas)
- Environmentally
sensitive areas such as wetlands, critical animal and plant habitats, sole
source aquifers, freshwater well fields
- Historically
significant, within historic districts, or archeological sites<
- At
least 100 feet from property lines
- Owned
or controlled by municipal or state government
Subjective criteria subject to further review:
- Large
enough to accept and store large quantities of debris.
- Have
easy access, including being near the area of debris generation, be easy
to enter and exit, and be near transportation arteries.
- Be
ready to use as management areas without extensive site modifications.
