Name: LCRR Laterals

Display Field: STREETNAME

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolyline

Description:

Service laterals, in general, come off Distribution type water mains.

There are cases where service laterals come off of hydrant laterals

and other service laterals. Connectivity between service laterals and

water mains need only be graphic as no tracing will be conducted

through service laterals. Service laterals are placed perpendicular

to the water main arc with exceptions such as cul-de-sacs or services

with offsets. Service laterals extend to the PARCEL coverage right-

of-way line. When no right-of-way line exists, or when the right-of-

way line is offset less than 20' from the water main, the graphic

service length will be 20'. Directionality for service lateral arcs

is required so when issuing an arctext command text will display

properly. The FNODE of a service lateral will be placed on the water main.

Each service lateral, except out_at_main, will have a meter point feature

at its terminus.

SERVICE_LATERAL arcs are categorized and symbolized by there purpose,

which is specified through the USE attribute in the SERVICE_LATERALS_ATR.

The following are the USE values for SERVICE_LATERAL arcs:

RESIDENTIAL

Provides service to a property for residential use

COMMERCIAL

Provides service to a property for a commercial use.

FIRE

Provides service for a fire prevention system.

LANDSCAPE

Provides service for non-residential landscape purposes

PARK

Provides service to a city park.

TEMPORARY

Provides service to a property on a temporary basis.

OUT_AT_MAIN

An abandoned service. When a service is abandoned it is generally

not removed from the database for financial tracking purposes.

o LATERAL arcs

Used for depicting air valve and hydrant features, not essential for network

tracing. LATERAL arcs are for graphic purposes only. Connectivity

between lateral arcs and other water main arcs need only be graphic.

These arcs will have an air valve or hydrant point feature at their terminus.

There will be some cases where a lateral arc will not have a point at its

terminus (fire hydrant stub). Directionality is not required for lateral

arcs. In general these arcs shall snap and be perpendicular to water main

lines and extend to the ROW line of the Parcel coverage. In cases where

no ROW exists, or the hydrant/av is in a median a standard length of 25'

is to be used. Manually drawn lateral arcs for indicating offsets and other

special cases do not conform to the above standard length requirements.

o DRAIN_LINE arcs

Used mainly in facility areas for depicting drain lines, not essential for

network tracing These lines have no connectivity with any other arc type.

o MISC arcs

Used for special graphic purposes in facility areas, not essential for

network tracing. These lines have no connectivity with any other arc type.
