intro (type: esriFieldTypeString, alias: Introduction
The 2022 Washington State Legislature authorized $500 million over 16 years beginning in 2023 for WSDOT stormwater retrofits as part of the Move Ahead Washington (MAW) funding package to enhance stormwater treatment from WSDOT's existing roads and infrastructure, with an emphasis on green infrastructure retrofits. While new and redevelopment projects already require stormwater treatment and flow control based on requirements independent of MAW funding, this new funding is for stand-alone stormwater retrofits not related to other projects. The main purpose of the projects funded by MAW will be to address stormwater in areas lacking treatment or with insufficient treatment.
The MAW proviso directs WSDOT to prioritize projects that focus on benefits to salmon recovery and ecosystem health, reducing toxic pollution, addressing health disparities, and cost effectiveness.
Your participation
WSDOT is soliciting input from tribes, local agencies, and other interested parties on your priority locations for stormwater retrofit projects on WSDOT's infrastructure. The input you provide will inform delivery of the MAW stormwater retrofit program and will be considered in determining where the funding will be spent. Please share some information with WSDOT in the form below so we can incorporate your priority locations into our stormwater retrofit prioritization GIS analysis.
Our goal is to distribute these resources across the state equitably, while recognizing tribal treaty rights and addressing the Healthy Environment for All Act with the goal of directing 40% of our investments for stormwater retrofit improvements across the state to eliminate or reduce health disparities for vulnerable populations and overburdened communities.
Important notes
Please coordinate within your tribe, agency, or organization to submit one set of coordinated priority locations.
In your submission, you will have an opportunity to identify and rank up to four priority locations for WSDOT consideration.
You will have opportunity to update or add more priority locations as best available science around emerging pollutants evolves and priorities are revisited or addressed.
You will indicate a point in the form below, not a line or polygon. We understand that more coordination will need to occur when it comes to project development and design. The point you place is just an indicator of your priority location and will be used as one parameter in a GIS analysis to locate priority locations across Washington., SQL Type: sqlTypeOther, length: 255, nullable: true, editable: true)
