Service Description: This layer shows UK fishing effort (total fishing days) for 2016 to 2020 aggregated to ICES Statistical Rectangle, showing only those rectangles within a 15km buffer of the Stage 3 and 4 Marine Protected Areas. The layer is for Midwater Gears and vessels of under 12m length only. The information in this layer was derived from the annual data call submitted to the EU Data Collection Framework, and subsequently the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF). While STECF assesses amalgamated European fisheries data, this map specifically focuses on the MMO's UK submission. Verification of inshore fishing reports can be difficult and while positional accuracy may be lacking, this is the best available data for the inshore fleet.
