Description: This file contains bird density values as well as associated Coefficients of Variation (CVs). The dataset combines input values from Wildlife and Wetlands Trust and the European Seabirds at Sea databases. The data has been generated as part of the report 'Spatial modelling, wind farm sensitivity scores and GIS mapping tool' which was a joint collaboration between Natural England and the Marine Management Organisation.
Copyright Text: This GIS file was originated by WWT Consulting under contract to Natural England (NE). European Seabirds at Sea (ESAS) boat based data were collected and supplied by Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) other publically available boat survey data were obtained with permission from The Crown Estate's (CE) Data Catalogue. Aerial survey data were collected by WWT Consulting under contract to Department of Energy and Climate Change, JNCC, CE, NE and Countryside Council for Wales. Depth data were supplied by the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office under licence, Spatial modelling was performed by WWT Consulting and Macarthur Green.

Description: Shapefile containing boundary and attribute data for proposed and designated Special Protection Areas with marine components in English inshore and English offshore waters. Designated sites are term 'classified' SPAs and are included in this dataset once they have been submitted to the European Commission. Proposed sites are termed 'potential' SPAs (pSPAs) and are either undergoing formal public consultation or are subsequently between public consultation and submission to the European Commission. ConsltDate is the date that the proposed site started public consultation. Note that boundary and attribute data for potential SPAs may be subject to change - this dataset is updated once revisions are formalised (i.e. the site is designated or is sent back out to public consultation). Please contact the relevant Statutory Nature Conservation Body (Natural England for inshore sites, JNCC for offshore sites) to determine whether any interim updates apply to a proposed site. Where a site extension is proposed, the original (currently designated) and extended (proposed) versions of the site are included in this dataset as two separate polygons. The extended version includes the site's revised entirety and not just the extended section.
Description: Shapefile containing boundary and attribute data for proposed and designated Special Areas of Conservation with marine components in UK inshore and UK offshore waters. Designated sites include candidate SACs (cSACs; submitted to the European Commission); Sites of Community Importance (SCIs, approved by the European Commission); and designated SACs (SACs, fully designated by the relevant UK Administration). Proposed sites are termed possible SACs (pSACs) and are either undergoing formal public consultation or are subsequently between public consultation and submission to the European Commission. ConsltDate is the date that the proposed site started public consultation. Note that boundary and attribute data for possible SACs may be subject to change - this dataset is updated once revisions are formalised (i.e. the site becomes designated or is sent back out to public consultation). Description: It is a by-product of the 2013-2016 activities of the EMODnet Seabed Habitats 2013-2016 consortium. It is acomposite of two broad-scale habitat map outputs from the EMODnet Seabed Habitats project arranged in the following priority order:1) A roughly 100 m* resolution broad-scale habitat map, which covers the majority of the UK shelf area2) EUSeaMap 2016, a coarser resolution** broad-scale habitat map, which covers all European seas Both of these datasets have been created using identical methods; the resolution of the depth and seabed substrate input data is increased in the 100m model and the source of the depth data is different (Defra 1 arcsec DEM vs EMODnet Bathymetry). These data are clipped to cover the current extent of the UK continental shelf. For more information on the modelling process used to create the two initial datasets, please read the EUSeaMap reports presented in the "Additional information source" field.* 3 arc second = 93 m (latitudinally) by 44 m (north) to 53 m (south) (longitudinally)** 7.5 arc second = 232 m (latitudinally) by 109 m (north) to 155 m (south) (longitudinally)Confidence maps are also available to download from http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/ukseamap. The data has been clipped to cover the current extent of the UK continental shelf.* 3 arc second = 93 m latitudinally by between 44 m (north) and 53 m (south) longitudinallyClassification system:• EUNIS habitat classification system (http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/page-3365), with additional deep sea zones• MSFD predominant habitats• The Marine Habitat Classification for Britain and Ireland (http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/page-1584)Input data layers:• Seabed substrate type• Depth to the seabed• Amount of light reaching the seabed• Wave disturbance at the seabed• Kinetic energy at the seabed caused by tidal currents and waves
