Copyright Text: • The NWN is a geographic database of navigable waterways in and around the U.S. The NWN database was developed by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Vanderbilt University, with input from the National Waterway GIS Design Committee NWGISDC), for analytical studies of waterway performance, for compiling commodity flow statistics, and for mapping purposes.
• The NHD is a geographic database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the stream segments or reaches of the nation's surface water drainage system. The NHD dataset is a national framework for assigning reach addresses to water-related entities, such as industrial discharges, drinking water supplies, fish habitat areas, and wild and scenic rivers. Reach addresses establish the locations of these entities relative to one another within the NHD surface water drainage network.
• The NCF is a database providing information about congressionally authorized navigation channels maintained (through the eHydro hydrographic survey application) by the USACE. It includes channel details such as reaches, channel areas, quarters, centerlines, and stationing.
