Description:

The Transportation Planning and Programming (TPP) Division of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) derived this streams layer for visualization and general mapping from the National Hydography Dataset (NHD) maintained by the US geological survey. The original NHD dataset was used for modelling purposes. Therefore, TPP modified stream type classifications and dissolved the linework to create this basemap layer. The data can now be queried and symbolized to meet specific mapping and analysis needs.

This dataset covers the state of Texas and includes stream types classified as Major Rivers, Minor Rivers, Flowing and Intermittent Streams, Canals, and Bayous.
