Description:

From January 2017 to July 2018, TxDOT's Bicycle Tourism Trails Study examined the potential for a statewide network of long-distance bicycle routes to accommodate tourism and local needs. This feature class shows the Example Network segments, which may indicate future demand for long distance and local bicycling. Example Network routes represent an application of the qualitative and quantitative criteria established as part of the study. A more thorough analysis of local conditions and extensive stakeholder engagement is needed to advance development of any route. For more information, please consult TxDOT's Bicycle Tourism Trails Study Final Report https://www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/modes-of-travel/bicycle/plan-design/tourism-study.html.
