Service Description: Source Water Protection Zone 1 is based on wellhead protection standards and constitutes an accident prevention or sanitary protection zone. This zone is meant to be highly protective and prevent direct introduction of contaminants into the well and the immediate area from spills, surface runoff, or leakage from any containers or storage areas. These were developed for public water systems that participated in the Wyoming Source Water Assessment Project in 2004.
