These three layers, point, line, and polygon are derived from original geospatial layers authored and managed by these business units: Highway Maintenance Improvement Program (HMIP), Bridge Maintenance Improvement Program (BMIP), Routine Maintenance Improvement Program (RMIP), Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) {inclusive of Spot Mobility and Safety}, and Facilities Management. Although absent now, Specialty Fund Projects and Secondary Road Construction may be included here later.
Publication dates vary by business unit:
HSIP – updated quarterly.
HMIP – updated twice daily.
BMIP – updated daily.
RMIP – updated annually, mid-March.
Facilities Management – updated, no formal update schedule at this time.
All data displayed in this map and feature layer service are the most recent versions of each Business Unit’s data; the extraction model pulled all data on April 17, 2025.
Each Business Unit has their own SOPs for data collection; however, this layer is compiled from a subset of attributes from each of those Business Units with no modifications, only attribute name changes to conform to a higher-level broad rubric of descriptors. The data in the fields has not been edited.
This data is now available to the Public. No restrictions are implemented in this current aggregated version.
Should the user have any questions regarding the map service or the feature layer service that is fed into it, they should contact the NCDIT-T GIS Unit Geospatial Services Group, or NCDIT-T GIS Help Desk.
Specialty Funds and Secondary Roads (to come later after fieldwork is complete).
Models for each BU's feature service pull in the basic attributes, process them, aggregate them by geometry, then put them in a separate geodatabase.
