Service Description: This dataset was first developed in January of 2019 and is processed and updated quarterly as part of the CTP Process Improvement Initiative at NCDOT. This dataset supports the development of long-range Comprehensive Transportation Plans (CTPs) and Metropolitan Transportation plans (MTPs) initiated by the Transportation Planning Division in partnership with the Geographic Information Systems Unit of NCDIT.
This feature class provides approximate point locations of Amtrak stations, bus transfer centers, multimodal facilities, and park and ride lots.

Description: This data is made up of point features extracted from other statewide public transportation feature class and merged into this single feature class. Data sources include rail facilities from NCDOT and bus transfer centers, multimodal facilities, and park and ride lots from the North Carolina State University Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) GIS database.
This feature class is used to store recommendation information for Public Transit Facilities by engineers at NCDOT's Transportation Planning Division when conducting their CTP analysis.
Datasets developed under the CTP Process Improvement initiative are system-wide data and require verification prior to use. These datasets are compiled and grouped from numerous authoritative sources previously verified by the NCDOT Atlas initiative, to be used in long-range planning and project development in State of the North Carolina by its planning partners and resource agencies.
