Description: The NC Economic Sites layer is a polygon layer that lists certified sites and economic megasites across North Carolina which are sites focused on economic development that have met specific requirements established by the State. North Carolina has an inventory of ready to build sites that are classified as either Certified Sites, Megasites or both. Certified Sites are a statewide inventory of industrial sites that have undergone a prequalification process to ensure they are “shovel ready” for immediate development and meet a consistent set of standards. North Carolina has six Megasites that offer manufacturers the opportunity to build in areas with the lowest corporate income tax in the United States. These locations have an abundance of skilled workers, along with convenient access to major markets, consumers and suppliers.Datasets developed under Project ATLAS do not replace any NRTR work for future projects and may not be used as a replacement for site visits / field surveys by licensed professionals and hence should be used only as a supporting platform for decision making. Use of this dataset for project scoping or screening is merely pre-decisional.
