This Address Points Layer was created as the foundation for the City of Houston's addressing team. It was developed by compiling all available known address information into one comprehensive data set. Due to its origins, there is still a great deal of clean up that needs to occur within the data. The dataset is continuosly maintained to improve the quality of the address data.
Address Status:
Abandon (ABD):These addresses are no longer physically used due to building demolition or address change.
County address (CNTY): An address located outside Harris County.
COH Permanent address (COH):These addresses are permanent. They are usually created by the addressing team and are validated against the HCAD, GHC 911, Code Enforcement and CenterPoint data.
Center Point Address (CP): An address created by CenterPoint Energy.
Out of Range address (OOR):These addresses are valid, but they are located outside the correct range of the road or parity.
Preliminary address (PRE):An address issued when a preliminary subdivision plat is submitted for Planning Commission approval. These addresses are not final until the recordation of the plat. They can change at any time during the plat approval process.
Reverse geocoded address (RVSG): A computer-generated address based on the existing road range. These addresses are not official. They are used to aid the addressing team during the assignment of a new address and cannot be trusted for accuracy.
Utility address (UTA):An address created for utility purposes (cell towers, meters, billboard, traffic signals)
Address Types:
• ABD - ABANDON - Abandon addresses. Once used and now abandon due to replacement by another address. Kept for historical purposes.
• COMMERCIAL - Known commercial addresses.
• INDUSTRY - Known industrial addresses.
• NONSTR - NON-STRUCTURAL - Addresses typically created by Code Enforcement these are addresses for signs, lift stations, and non-livable features.
• PARCEL - Addresses that are located on empty parcels.
• PRIVPARK - PRIVATE PARK - Addresses that are located on private parks.
• PUBPARK - PUBLIC PARK - Addresses that are located on public parks.
• RESERVE - Addresses that are located parcels that are platted as reserves.
• RES - RESIDENTIAL - Residential addresses.
• TSA - TEMPORARY SERVICE ADDRESS - Addresses typically created by Code Enforcement they are for temporary power service.
• UNK - UNKNOWN - An address of unknown source and origin. Maintained for historical purposes.
• VAC - VACANT - An address created for a vacant lot or structure.
• RVSG - Reverse Geocode - Addresses created as a place holder for future development. Many of which are located on parcels with zero addresses.
