Opportunity Zones were established by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Opportunity Zones are designed to spur economic development by providing tax benefits to investors in economically-distressed community. They are census tracts. The City of Houston contains 99 designated opportunity zones.

This feature class is updated by the Planning and Development Department, Community Planning Division.
