Description:

New federal law from the FCC - dated 20th February, 2014 - requires that within five years 80% of 9.1.1 calls must be mapped with the following level of accuracy:

- 50m horizontal accuracy, and

- 3m vertical accuracy

This information provides a great deal of additional value to first responders - police, fire and ambulance - by highlighting which building, or even which floor, a 9.1.1 call might have come from.

This scene contains a small set of simulated 9.1.1 calls that have been symbolized to show both the estimated location of the call and the degree of accuracy associated with it. It also contains Esri-hosted content (the Boston buildings) to provide much-needed context around the calls.
