Description: Esri data developers evaluated every ZIP Code in the United States based on the average wealth of the households found within them. Wealth is a measure of the assets owned by a household. High incomes and displays of affluence do not always equate with high wealth. Accumulated wealth is the product of income, savings, property, investments, equities and all other assets less debts. Esri’s update of key wealth measures incorporate unique top-down and bottom-up socio-demographics methods providing robust small area estimates to better reflect the nation’s wealth differentials. How to Interpret and Use the Wealth Rank Data The 2017 Wealthiest ZIP Code Database ranks 28,740 ZIP Codes. A unique rank is assigned to each residential ZIP Code in the United States. The wealth rank ranges from 1 to 28,470, where 1 represents the wealthiest ZIP Code. The smallest ZIP Codes are not ranked. ZIP Codes with fewer than 100 households and populations of less than 200 are excluded in this map. Click on the map to see current year population, households, median age, average household income, average home value, and average net worth. Move around the map to explore other neighborhoods and inspect their demographic characteristics. Esri's 2017 Wealthiest ZIP Code Map can be viewed in the Living Atlas. For more information about updated demographics see Esri's Update Methodology. For additional ZIP Code information check out Esri's ZIP Code Look-Up app. Insider's Guide to ZIP Code Geography ZIP Codes are defined solely by the US Postal Service to expedite mail delivery and can change monthly or whenever the US Postal Service revises delivery routes. ZIP Code boundaries are not contiguous with standard census geographic areas. Data estimated for ZIP Codes are subject to change. Residential ZIP Code data are estimated from Esri’s most current block group data through a correspondence between Census 2010 block points and ZIP Code boundaries from Nokia (Q3, 2016).
