Description:

Environmental Justice Screening Method (EJSM) as developed by USC / Occidental College. This was initiated by the proposed Green Zones Ordinance. This is the second version of the Environmental Justice Screening Method (EJSM) that was generated on 8/27/19 to include "Auto Dismantling / Metal Recycling" business types in the Hazard Proximity. This layer also includes two fields that measure the Cumulative Impact and Hazard Proximity scores between version 1 and this version. This was the last run done by USC / Occidental College for us, and it includes the following scores for Los Angeles County:

  • Overall tract score

  • Hazard Proximity

  • Heath

  • Social Vulnerability

  • Climate Change Vulnerability

There is a 'Green Zones' web mapping application which houses the data layers as well as links to other information about the EJSM (click here).

UPDATE HISTORY:

  • 6/11/19 - final deliverable from USC / Occidental College

  • 8/27/19 - re-ran SPSS programs to update Hazard Proximity Scores to include 'Auto Dismantling / Metal Recycling' Businesses (extracted from Business Analyst - 2019).

Copyright Text: The Environmental Justice Screening Method was developed by Rachel Morello-Frosch, Manuel Pastor, and James Sadd in 2007. The EJSM was updated for Los Angeles County by James Sadd and Madeline Wander in 2018.
