Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolyline

Description:

NOTE: As of 2/28/19, the link to our Title 22 Planning and Zoning Code has been updated. To view Title 22, please click here.

The history of Setback Districts in Los Angeles County is somewhat obscure, and research is needed to better understand their origin and the purpose for which they were intended. There were 15 Setback Districts adopted between 1932 and 1955, of which 11 remain in the unincorporated area (the other four having been absorbed into city boundaries as a result of city incorporations, annexations, etc.). The original 15 Setback Districts are defined in the Los Angeles County Code. The ones that no longer exist are: No. 2 - West Hollywood; No. 10 - E. Compton Midland Precinct TR No. 4827; No. 11 - N.W. El Monte TR. No. 10821; and No. 15 - Lomita.

This layer features polylines for the individual setbacks as shown on the adopted ordinance maps for each of the Setback Districts. As noted above, updates to the original layer resulted in the number of Setback Districts being reduced from 15 to 11.

UPDATE HISTORY:

  • 03-04-2015 - Imported into SDE

  • 03-10-2015 - Corrected several errors in the setbacks by using a Near Analysis with the right-of-way lines to identify the errors

  • 10-29-2018 - Updated Metadata
