Service Description: GLRI is specifically authorized under the Clean Water Act and provides EPA unique authority to transfer funds to other federal agencies to implement restoration activities in the Great Lakes and surrounding watershed. NRCS delivers funding provided by EPA using Farm Bill and Conservation Operation authorities. GLRI targets restoration activities to 5 action areas as captured in the Great Lakes Action Plan. NRCS is most involved in addressing water quality by improving nutrient management and reducing phosphorus delivery to surface waters.
