Service Description: Source water protection high priority areas for drinking water protection are identified in each State by small watersheds (HUC 12). High priority areas are identified, in collaboration with State technical committees and community water systems, to address resource concerns related to quality or quantity of source water or both. These areas are selected using a variety of risk factors, including population served, type of agricultural operations, system violations, past occurrence or likelihood of harmful algal blooms, etc. Source water protection high priority areas-type of system displays if the identified watershed is a surface water system, ground water system, or combination of the two for the identified small watershed.
