Description: This data set is a complete digital hydrologic unit boundary layer to the Subwatershed (12-digit) 6th level for the State of Wisconsin. This data set consists of geo-referenced digital data and associated attributes created in accordance with the "FGDC Proposal, Version 1.0 - Federal Standards For Delineation of Hydrologic Unit Boundaries 3/01/02" (http://www.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/huc_data.html). These polygons are attributed with hydrologic unit codes for 4th level sub-basins, 5th level watersheds, 6th level subwatersheds, name, size, downstream hydrologic unit, type of watershed, non-contributing areas and flow modification. The native projection of Watershed Boundary Dataset was UTM zone 16T. This data has been projected to the Wisconsin Transverse Mercator (WTM) coordinate system for use in DNR applications. The dataset extent is the extent of 8-digit HUCs that intersect the state of Wisconsin.
Copyright Text: Funding for the Wisconsin Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) was provided by the USDA Forest Service, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and U.S. EPA, Region 5. Representatives from the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (Dale Higgins, Walt Rasmussen, Lisa Brehm), U.S. EPA Region 5 (Milo Anderson, Joan Rogers, Andrew Bock, Walt Rasmussen), USGS Wisconsin Water Science Center (Jana Stewart, Cheryl Buchwald), Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (Jim Baumann), Wisconsin Natural Resources Conservation Service (Annette Humpal), Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (Jim Solstad, Andrea Bergman), St. Croix National Scenic Riverway (Randy Ferrin, Marianna Young) have worked together in a combined effort, contributing a substantial amount of time and salary towards bringing the legacy dataset up to the criteria outlined in the Federal Standards for Delineation of Watershed Boundaries.
Description: This watershed boundary feature class has been assembled to support agricultural conservation planning. The original data used to create this database are the Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) for the three individual states. The majority of the metadata found herein pertains to the Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) and has been modified only to reflect the repurposing of the data in its aggregated form. This data set is a complete digital hydrologic unit boundary layer to the Subwatershed (12-digit) 6th level for the entire United States. This data set consists of geo-referenced digital data and associated attributes created in accordance with the "Federal Guidelines, Requirements, and Procedures for the National Watershed Boundary Dataset; Chapter 3 of Section A, Federal Standards, Book 11, Collection and Delineation of Spatial Data; Techniques and Methods 11-A3" (04/01/2009). http://www.ncgc.nrcs.usda.gov/products/datasets/watershed/index.html . Polygons are attributed with hydrologic unit codes for 4th level sub-basins, 5th level watersheds, 6th level subwatersheds, name, size, downstream hydrologic unit, type of watershed, non-contributing areas and flow modification.
