The most vulnerable residential population to hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding and other natural disasters are those that reside in Mobile Homes and Recreational Vehicle (RV) parks. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 31% of the people killed in tornadoes between 2009 and 2011 were residing in or fleeing from mobile homes. An inventory of mobile home park locations and the number of mobile homes within those parks is, therefore, essential for emergency preparedness and evacuation.
U.S. Highways represents the major and minor highways of the United States. These include interstates, U.S. highways, state highways, major roads, and minor roads. This map layer shows areal and linear water features of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The original file was produced by joining the individual State hydrography layers from the 1:2,000,000- scale Digital Line Graph (DLG) data produced by the USGS. This map layer was formerly distributed as Hydrography Features of the United States. This is a revised version of the January 2003 map layer.
U.S. Rivers and Streams represents detailed rivers and streams in the United States.
The CITYLIM contains boundaries for medium and larger sized cities. In some rare cases, places with smaller populations will be included. This layer was derived as a query from the HERE Q22014 'CITYLIM' SDC data, "FAC_TYPE=7990". This HERE dataset is released on a Quarterly basis.
U.S. Parks represents parks, gardens, and forests within the United States at national, state, county, regional, and local levels.
This map layer contains hydrologic unit boundaries and codes for the
United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It was revised
for inclusion in the National Atlas of the United States of America, and
updated to match the streams file created by the USGS National Mapping
Division (NMD) for the National Atlas of the United States of America.
This is a revised version of the November 2002 map layer.
