Description: The geodatabase contains all the information used to publish U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Map 3387 (Trusdell and Zoeller, 2017). The geodatabase consists of a polyline for the inundation boundaries and two polygon files: one of the lava inundation zones and the second of map extents comprising the region of each inundation map. Lava, like water, will flow downhill. We use this fundamental premise and model the existing digital topography to show the probable flow paths of lava from future eruptions. Our modeling delineates the manner in which topography influences the movement of lava. While lava generally travels downslope from a point source, the inundation boundaries provide a measure of the way topography will guide that flow downslope following the terrain.
