Polk County was one of 66 counties declared for disaster assistance on April 8, 1997. This neighborhood was acquired through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and transformed into a recreational area. The outline of the park was digitized from this MN DNR map: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/red_river/index.html
