description (type: esriFieldTypeString, alias: This form is used to report an abandoned mine hazard to the Abandoned Mine Reclamation Program (AMRP) in the Division of Oil, Gas & Mining. We appreciate your help in locating hazards that need to be addressed to protect public safety, as well as maintenance needs for our installed mine closures. Please use this form to report both kinds of information.
Mine openings may be horizontal, inclined, or vertical. In assessing a vertical hazard, consider what would happen if you fell in. Could you get out without assistance? If not, it is a hazard we need to address. Inclined openings can be steep and hard to climb out of. Horizontal openings pose dangers including bad air, vertical drops, collapsing roofs, and wild animals.
Occasionally, old explosives are found at abandoned mines. Please use extra caution if you observe dynamite, blasting caps, wires, or other explosive material. These items can be extremely unstable and should not be touched or disturbed in any way. We appreciate reports of this type also. We will add the information to our list and report it to the county sheriff.
We appreciate you taking a few minutes to record some information for us while you are in the field. If you want to contact someone right away, you can call David Jones at 801-538-5267. , SQL Type: sqlTypeOther, length: 255, nullable: true, editable: true)
