Description:

This is a multipoint dataset of State Water Project assets. The multipoints in this dataset represent various types of assets, such as vaults, buildings, bridges, culverts, turnouts, and turnins.

Most features have been assigned an SWP Asset Register Object ID, Functional Location, Asset Description, Asset Level, and Asset Type. The Object ID serves as a unique identifier and is either the feature's Functional Location or its Equipment ID.

This dataset is intended to be the authoritative repository for SWP point assets. While the data is not complete at this time, continual updates will lead to an eventual replacement the atlas dataset i17_StateWaterProject_Points. Almost all assets for South Bay Aqueduct are included in this dataset. However, for the rest of the SWP, only culverts, turnouts, turnins, vaults, and a few other assets are included.

Point assets were digitized and mapped from a combination of sources, including GPS points, SWP Strip Maps, SWP Blue Book, and aerial photography. Assets taken from the Blue Book were linear-referenced based on Blue Book mile posts.

There are 38 features excluding turnouts and turnins that are not included in the Asset Register and thus do not have an assigned Object ID.

Turnouts and turnins in this dataset primarily come from two different sources: the SWP Blue Book and the SWP Strip Maps. Extensive work was done to harmonize the differences between these two sources and to eliminate duplicate data. However, there are still a large number of turnouts that could not be identified in the Asset Register and thus do not have an assigned Object ID. There are likely many duplicates amongst these. There are also 12 turnouts in Oroville Field Division that could not be spatially located, but are included in the attribute table. The Asset Register does not include any turnins, so a temporary unique ID was assigned to them.

This dataset has relationship classes with six other tables:

i17_StateWaterProject_BlueBook_Table1_Conveyance_Points

i17_StateWaterProject_BlueBook_Table5_DeliveryStructures

i17_StateWaterProject_BlueBook_Table6_PumpIns

i17_StateWaterProject _Culverts

i17_StateWaterProject _Turnouts

All tables except i17_StateWaterProject_BlueBook_Table6_PumpIns are related through the Asset Register Object ID field. i17_StateWaterProject_BlueBook_Table6_PumpIns is related through the Turnin_ID field. The first three tables are digital versions of SWP Blue Book tables 1, 5, and 6, and contain additional information on conveyance points, turnouts, and turnins that come specifically from the Blue Book. The last two tables contain additional information on culverts and turnouts that has been collected by DOE Geomatics Branch over the years.

This dataset is current as of 5/230/2024.
