Description: The South Carolina Coastal Counties Pond 2021 Inventory was developed to serve as an update to the Pond 2013 Inventory project (SCDNR and USC 2016). The goals of the project were to capture all ponds that were created since 2013 and update classification and/or shape of the original ponds (if size greater than a 50% difference) to reflect conditions in 2021. The ponds were heads-up reviewed and digitized manually from the 2021 USDA NAIP four-band (RGBNIR) imagery having a 60 cm spatial resolution in the (8) coastal counties of South Carolina. Ponds were digitized at a minimum scale of 1:3000. The ponds were visually classified into (1) Developed or (2) Undeveloped based on surrounding land-use. Ponds from the 2013 inventory were deleted if no longer visible in 2021 due to pond being filled in or having been incorrectly digitized due to the lower resolution of 2013 imagery. Funding was provided by the state of South Carolina through the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. 20240708
